SOMA Receives DFTA Award 2026 for ColorMind

The award, presented by the German Flexographic Technical Association (DFTA), recognizes the company’s efforts to simplify and improve the color adjustment process in flexographic printing.

Color adjustment is often one of the most demanding and time-consuming stages of a job changeover. Even with well-established color management standards, achieving the required color on press can involve further adjustments, material waste and considerable operator experience.

With ColorMind, SOMA set out to address this challenge by complementing standardized color management practices with a practical solution integrated directly into the printing press.

Making Color Adjustment Simpler

ColorMind combines color measurement, correction calculations and guided ink adjustments into a straightforward process. From the beginning, the focus was on simplicity and intuitive operation. The aim was to develop a system that operators could use with confidence, including those with less experience.

By guiding operators through the color adjustment process, ColorMind helps reduce trial and error, shorten setup times and minimize ink and substrate waste. It also supports greater process consistency and reduces dependency on individual operator expertise.

“Color adjustment has always been one of the more challenging parts of setting up a printing job for some print houses. We wanted to make this process simpler and more predictable, especially for operators with less experience. Our goal was not to add complexity, but to provide practical guidance directly at the press.
