First SOMA press in Taiwan

This project marks a significant milestone for both SOMA and the Taiwanese packaging market, as it represents the first SOMA press installation in Taiwan. The investment underlines EGI’s strategic commitment to innovation, sustainability, and environmentally responsible production, while also strengthening SOMA’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

Founded in 1982, Excellent Gravure Industrial Co., Ltd. has built a strong reputation as a high-quality flexible packaging manufacturer, offering comprehensive in-house capabilities from prepress and printing to lamination, pouch making, and TAF accreditation testing laboratory. The company currently operates ten rotogravure printing lines in full production and serves a wide range of demanding customers across the packaging industry.

EGI’s decision to invest in CI flexographic technology is part of its long-term strategy to expand its technological capabilities by incorporating water-based flexo solutions alongside its existing rotogravure operations. This strategic development aligns with evolving environmental standards and global sustainability trends, while reinforcing the company’s long-standing commitment to responsible manufacturing.

The SOMA Optima² 1270 press was selected for its high print quality, production efficiency, and advanced design optimized for water-based inks. The new press will support EGI’s efforts to reduce environmental impact while maintaining the high standards of print performance and productivity expected by its customers.
